We witnessed a very interesting and unusual event: Côte d'Azur was struck all along its beaches by large tidal waves. All of Nice's beach bars and private beaches were devastated. There were once fairly good sized, smooth rocks, now replaced by very small rocks and it has filled in the beach half way up the stairs to where the Promenade (walking path) is. Some waves tipped over the Promenade wall and went into the street, some even went so far as the hotels.
